Occupy Earth

I've been reading so much of this Occupy "______" movement. Although it makes me glad that people are finally waking up, I'm kind of upset that it took this long. You can only wonder what the future of our country will bring if the same people that apathetically stand by while they're being screwed over, are the ones that will have to, eventually, step up and HAVE to make decisions. I feel that the indifference has only been temporarily shed. As soon as we get small results from these protests and riots, and as soon as everything falls slightly back into place, we will go back to our televisions, back to our magazines, to our websites. To quote one of my friend's friend on Facebook, "I don't care what happens until it happens to me". I couldn't be more indignant, although it IS true. I have done it, you have done it. Why should I care what policy passes if it doesn't affect me? But the thing is that it WILL affect you, eventually. Every single policy, rule, statute, can and will affect you in some way. Perhaps it won't affect you right away or at the precise location and time where you are, but eventually you'll fall into the demographic range of that new Medicare law, or that new bail out ruling. The point is, everything that the government passes, affects us.
For the record, I hope this spirit of political involvement remains.

To quote Thomas Jefferson, "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

My Kitty is Allergic to Me.

My allergies are acting up because I've been holding Simba, my kitteh, for longer than 2 seconds.
For some reason I can't explain, he seems to be allergic to me too. Every time I pick him up he starts sneezing. Maybe he's trying to give me a hint that I should just leave him alone more often.. But I'd never heard of a human-allergic cat...
Hm...

Just woke up!
I don't want to sound overly optimistic.. but it's a BEAUTIFUL day!
Today is a "dead" day at school but I have to go get some things done anyway.
I'll probably spend the majority of the day on campus.
I should take Interview with the Vampire for the small breaks or something.
Great book.

Also, as a side note, try this little thing out. It's a great program, no joke.

Kids.

The whole weekend I've had had to put up with the 4 most collectively annoying kids I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They stand behind me when I'm working on something, (which I ABSOLUTELY hate), they stare at me when I'm asleep, (which I also ABSOLUTELY hate). They grab my stuff and break it when I'm not at home.
This is getting ridiculous. It's impossible to be in the same room with them without going crazy!
Why, oh why, did the white baby Jesus ever invent kids??

Juicy Debates

Debates, debates, debates.. I can't get enough of them. Lately I've been trying to get into arguments with just about anyone. There's something about listening to someone give their views on a subject and at the same time devising a way to topple their reasons with one of those "Oh-my-God!" comebacks. Whether I'm arguing with my best friend's sister about the supremacy of vampires over werewolves, or going back and forth on a Facebook post about intelligent design vs. evolution, I simply can't get enough of it.. Something may be wrong with me... Hehe.

The First..

I've heard a lot about this blogging business, haven't you?
From an outsider's view it looks like one of those, "Everyone's doing it, maybe I should check it out" kind of things. Thing is..., you never actually get around to creating one. Well, for me, I just thought I'd give it a shot, see what the fuss was about.
Anyway, as you can see from the title, this is my very first blog ever.
I know it's pretty awesome already, but relax, I haven't even gotten started.
Hope this kicks off, cya.
